NYSEA caught up with Unsound Surf shop owner and professional surf photographer Mike Nelson after his day with Juno.
Winter Blizzard ” Juno” brought plenty of snow but we all know with snow comes waves. It is one thing to surf it, but to swim it ? Mike Nelson is a quiet guy but when it comes to swimming in blizzard conditions he is a beast. Much Respect.
” Thanks to Juno , Western Long island saw it’s best swell in a couple of months. The weather was challenging in the morning, but as the day went on things cleared up and the waves continued to pump. Empty parking lots and empty lineups greeted those who braved the frigid conditions. Here are a few photos from the day, surfers are Neil camps , James Theobald and Joe Parrino.
